I am new to X programming and have some naive questions about extending
widget libraries. I am not afraid to read the manual, but I hope someone can
point me in the right direction.
I want something that behaves like an Athena text widget, but instead
of using a disk file or a string in memory for source, I want to write my own
text source, implemented by calls to a database server. I have looked at
DiskSrc.c in the the Athena widgets distribution, and it seems that it would
be quite easy to rewrite it using my database server calls instead of Unix
filesystem reads.
What more do I need to do to make this sort of thing work? Where should I look
for documentation on the process? Does this approach make sense?
Thanks for any help,
