Does anyone know if there is an X11.3 server (for UNIX SVR3) that will work on the AT&T 6386E WGS hardware. I have the AT&T XWIN environment as well as the available OpenLook stuff, but I want to install a standard X11.3 tape from the X Consortium as well. Before I order the installation materials, though, I need to know if they package a server that will work on my hardware. If not, the next question is, will my current XWIN server work with the rest of the standard X11.3 distribution? Thanks in advance. MIT X11R3 does not contain a server for the AT&T 6386 box. Yes, the X11R3 clients should run with the AT&T XWIN server, except you may need to override some default font settings.

My real question should have been "Is there a MIT X11R3 distribution tape available in a format readable by the AT&T 6386's 125 meg tape unit?" I have a Sun version of this tape but have no way to get it onto the 6386. When the tape is unloaded and installed, will it all fit onto 175 megs, which is tha amount of free space I have left to play with. When I install the tape, will I be able to build all of the standard X associated libraries? Sorry to keep pestering you about this, but I have limited resources I can approach regarding the questions I am asking, hope you understand. Steve Mikes

Also the Locus and Bell Tech servers will also run on a 6386, but I don't know if they have an X11.3 version out yet. A good portion of the X11.3 clients will even compile and run with just the AT&T XWIN libraries, etc. (Give or take BSD-isms like select calls, etc.) -- Marc Mengel mmengel@cuuxb.att.com attmail!mmengel ...!{lll-crg|att}!cuuxb!mmengel
