[comp.windows.x] arbitrary pointer device

reb@DINORAH.WUSTL.EDU (08/02/89)

Is there a way to use an arbitrary (serial) pointing device
(e.g. a trackball) for cursor control instead of the mouse without
hacking the server?

We're considering doing this by writing a client that does XWarpPointer
and XSendEvent (for button events) calls. Does this approach make
sense?

Thanks,
