[comp.windows.x] problem in running xperfmon

envbvs@epb2.Berkeley.EDU (Brian V. Smith) (08/04/89)

I just can't get xperfmon working. It dies with an illegal instruction
in pmap_getport down deep while opening the display:

(dbx) run

Illegal instruction (privileged instruction fault) in pmap_getport at 0x159ca
000159ca halt
(dbx) where

main(argc = 1, argv = 0x7fffe0d4, 0x7fffe0dc), line 309 in "xperfmon.c"
(dbx)

I suspect that something has been clobbered by the time it gets
to the XOpenDisplay() call, but I have no idea what.
Does anybody have any ideas?

Running on Vaxstation II, Ultrix 3.0, MIT R3, patches 1-8.

Thanks in advance.
