Sorry it has taken so long for me to send out this summary, but here it is... Unfortunately the response to my original inquiry was less than overwhelming. It appears that there are only four "metatools" for the interactive creation of an user interface. Below is a response from Jonathan Ma which summarizes the other reponses to my inquiry.
