The subject line says it...Aside from IIM and VisionWare, does anyone know of X/11 servers for the PC/Compaq/Clone? Who I can contact, etc. Please reply via e-mail and (if people want it) I'll post a summary. Sorry if this an old, worn out thread, I'm new to X. Locus Computing makes a X11 server for DOS -- It's sold also under the
IBM label as X Windows for PC DOS. It includes enough rudimentary
TCP/IP facility (TELNET, low-level drivers, etc.) to manage the
connection to a host running X clients
BEWARE -- make sure the Ethernet adapter you intend to use is
supported! Ask, and demand a guarantee. We recently got stung because
the 3COM driver they supply doesn't work with the 503
adapter -- which (you guessed it) is what we bought..

HP sells a product called AXDS/PC (accelerated XWindows Display System/PC). GSS (graphic software systems) sells a product called X-View. both run on FTP Software's version 2.03 kernels. we support all production 3com boards, and most of the other boards available in the US. if you are interested, i can dig up the addresses/part numbers/phone numbers of both of them. small reviews: AXDS/PC requires a HP made graphics board, and the board really wants one of the bigger, expensive monitors (NEC XL, as an example), which 780X1000 resolution. on the other hand, coupled with a fast network interface, this really is an impressive show. last i had heard, this had been showed at some shows, but not released. that may have changed by now. X-View is a software only package that supports an impressive array of E/VGA cards for AT class machines. it also supports EMS/extended memory. both allow one to shell escape to dos, neither allow one to open a DOS window. there may also be others that support the 3c503, there was one company i heard of that supported MS-Windows also, allowing one to run dos applications along with X applications. more information, like a company anme, i dont have. stev knowles stev@ftp.com ftp software 617-246-0900
