You should be on Release 2.2.1 of AIX. There are two classes of updates to AIX, temporary fixes that are not very thoroughly tested and better tested fixes. I only know about the temporary fixes. The latest one I have is 1723. You can tell what fixes you have on your system by looking at the last few lines of /usr/lpp/X11/lpp.hist. 1723 has been the most trouble free release I have seen. I have no known problems with it. Your mileage may vary. To get updates from IBM you should call 1-800-237-5511. You will need to know your customer number to get past first base. In general you need to have a specific problem to get an update. If you are not on the latest level that should not be hard to find. When 2.2.1 was first released it had an x11r3 server but most of the clients and toolkits were at the r2 level. The full transition to r3 occurred about update 1720.
