It seems that after discussing the possibility a number of times, we are
finally going to attempt to rewrite eagle!jerry's article 'Emily Post for
Usenet' to bring it up to date to the realities of the current network
(this is not a put-down of Jerry's work, since the net has changed a fair
amount since it first came out). Since I was silly enough to volunteer, I
seem to be the one who will be coordinating it (others who were silly
enough to suggest it will be assisting).
We want this document to be something that is acceptable to the network
(even though I am alway right, the rest of the net doesn't always agree
with me, and I want it to be what the net wants and will be willing to live
with). Since most of the net probably won't care about most of what will be
sent back and forth during the formative stages, I have set up a mailing
list here at nsc called emily-post. Anyone interested in assisting in the
creation of the document should drop me a line to be included on the list.
People with comments should send them to nsc!emily-post for redistribution.
When we get what we think is a reasonable draft, it will be posted to the
net so that everyone can see it and comment, so please don't hook yourself
up to the mailing list unless you are serious about helping. We hope to
make this document something that everyone can live with, and the easiest
way I know of to do this is to get everyone in on the creation.
