Is there a more appropriate forum for asking novice-level questions and sharing
"new user" tales than this forum?

Here is a typical question, for instance:

1. Is Andrew no longer a part of the standard distribution, since it's not in
the contrib directory on the ftp server?  If not, where is it now?
