[comp.windows.x] Naive Questions where to get Andrew

jim@EXPO.LCS.MIT.EDU (Jim Fulton) (08/16/89)

The ~ftp:/contrib directory (i.e. the anonymous ftp "contrib" directory) on
expo.lcs.mit.edu is not the same as the user-contributed tape that is part of
the MIT releases.  The ftp contrib directory is a depository for new things;
the sources for the last release are available under a separate directory.
The R3 Andrew, as well as other contributed toolkits, may be found in the
following places (among others):

 Loc Hostname IP Address anonymous ftp directory
 ---    --------                ----------      -----------------------

  W     gatekeeper.dec.com      128.45.9.52     pub/X.V11R3/contrib-2.src/
  C     mordred.cs.purdue.edu   192.5.48.2      pub/X11/Release3/contrib-2.src/
  E     uunet.uu.net            192.12.141.129  X/X.V11R3/contrib-2.src/
  *     expo.lcs.mit.edu        18.30.0.212     pub/R3/contrib-2.src/

(W) western coast USA
(C) central USA
(E) south and eastern USA and everywhere else
(*) a galaxy far, far away (do not use between 9am-6pm)
(**) If mordred.cs.purdue.edu doesn't respond on 192.5.48.2, try 128.10.2.2.
