I have run into a problem involving a remote X client application crashing the local server. I am running Ultrix-32 V3.0 (Rev 64) UWS V2.0 on a VAXstation II GPX. With the Xqdsg X window server running on the VAXstation, I start an XGKS client application on a remote Sun. The client makes the connection to the VAXstation O.K., then the server (Xqdsg) crashes with a segmentation fault in SwapColorItem(). What I am trying to run is the pmark demonstration program from the X11 Graphical Kernel System (GKS) software created at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This routine opens a window and draws an assortment of crosses and circles in different sizes and colors. Several of the XGKS demo programs will have the same effect. The program runs fine if the server and client are both Suns or are both VAXstations. Running the client on the Sun and attempting to display the output on the VAXstation is fatal to my entire login on the VAXstation... I end up at the d|i|g|i|t|a|l login screen. Any words of advice would be appreciated. Send mail; I will summarize if there is interest. Regards - Tim Bell (303)497-8636 Unidata Program; P.O.
