[comp.windows.x] X on a Sparcstation 1GX

X seems to have compiled fine on the Sparcstation, but I there appears
to be two problems, that I am wondering if anyone else is encountering.
My XDEVICE is /dev/fb and I am running a color server compiled with cc
-O. All the MIT patches are installed as well as PURDUE 2.1, but
-DPURDUE was not defined so I don't believe that should change anything.

The first problem is character droppings. This only seems to happen in
programs using the Athena text widget (xrn, xmh, etc). When I type
characters I get what appears to be a random pattern of pixels, one
pixel high, one the row below the bottom of a 'g' character. The row
goes away as soon as I backspace or a carriage return is inserted by me
or the text widget.

The second problem is a flicker at the top of the screen. It appears at
random intervals, but does seem to occur more often when there is a lot
of server activity. It is about 2 or 3 pixels tall and is made up of
what looks like alternating black and white rectangles .It just flashes
for an instant and then disappears.

I would like to hear from anyone who is using an MIT server with a
Sparcstation. Do you have any of these problems? How did you compiler
your server? What are you using for an XDEVICE (if you have a cgsix)? I
will post a follow up if I get any useful information.

						Thanks in Advance,
