I vaguely remember someone else posting about whether the MIT XV11R3 Sun server would run on the Sparcstation line, but I don't remember seeing any reply. As I understand it, the Sparcstations have two possible graphics devices: cgthree0 - the normal device cgsix0 - GX accelerator board Now, I know that the MIT XV11R2 and XV11R3 Sun servers work just fine on a Sparcstation 1 with the cgthree0 device because I just tested it myself. My question is, will the MIT Sun servers work with a GX board installed? I know that the MIT servers don't work with the GX board directly because it is a pixrect accelerator and the MIT server doesn't use pixrect. So, I imagine you would have to remove the cgsix0 device file and leave the cgthree0 device to bypass the GX board. Is that possible? If anyone has actually tried this, please let me know. Unfortunately, I can't get a hold of a Sparcstation with a GX board to try it myself. -- Bruce A.
