[comp.windows.x] Input Focus with OLWM

gerry@cs.keele.ac.uk (Gerry Pratt) (10/09/89)

Are we supposed to be discussing OLWM from SMI in the this newsgroup?

I just started using it and it works fine with xterm but today when
I tried to run xdvi it just beeped at me when I pressed "n" for next
page with the mouse in the xdvi window. This occured whether I
invoked olwm with or without the -f flag in my .xinitrc.

This also occured with miniedit.X from the STDWIN package when it
prompted we for the filename.

When I restarted the server with uwm, xdvi and miniedit.X worked fine.

Also with olwm if I have this as the LAST line in .xinitrc the windows
disappear and reappear as they are being managed - is this correct.

thanks,

I had the same problem with xman and one of my own tools but not
xedit. I tried setting XtNinput, True where necessary but to
no effect. I mailed the bug address in the README file but it
got bounced.

I notice that at the head of the README file it talks about
ICCCM support and that the PRE_R4_ICCCM compile-time flag
should be used to run XView under release 3. This flag does not
appear in the olwm code.

So what's going on ?
