I am involved in a project building an interactive system for cytological image processing (analyzing microscope images of cells) for research purposes in the University of Turku, Finland. Our intention is to use the X windowing system for building a modifiable user interface and some image interaction tools (region of interest selection by drawing with mouse, image editing etc.). Do you xperts know any PD stuff with which one could edit pixmap data, allocate graphics planes 'over' the pixmap data and do some simple drawing on it, return pixel value from the mouse coordinate when clicked etc. related stuff. I would appreciate any information related to these things and in image processing and X generally (also commercial systems). WHERE ARE YOU IMAGE PROCESSING PEOPLE?? I've understood that there should be a mailing list for people interested in image processing and X called 'ximage'. I've joined to it (at least tried) but haven't seen any discussion during the last three months. Thanks in advance.
