[comp.windows.x] Microport SysV.3 and X-windows . . .

weh@tacky.UUCP (Walter E. Hunt) (10/12/89)

Greetings,

I find myself in the unfortunate position of having a 386 Unix machine
with a less than optimal X windows implementation. So, I am looking into
the possibility of starting from scratch and trying to get a server going.
( I know it's been done but a> I need the experience and b> why pay for
    another crippled implementation? ).

I guess the first thing I could use is some pointers on where to find
TFM which details what's involved in creating a server. Any tips from those
who've been there before are of course welcome. And anyone who could get me
    started on doing VGA graphics ( 256 color/640 x 480 ) under Microport Unix
PLEASE HELP! I've got some DOS graphics books but they don't seem to help
much for uPort. ( In particular, shifting from graphics to text and vice
versa and accessing more than the standard 16 colors. )

Thanks in advance for your help.
