[comp.windows.x] Xfig problem

After I pick 'T' for Text when running Xfig, the window locks when I enter
characters.  It seems like I type too fast and overflow the input buffer.
The 'pointer' stays on the screen but it won't allow me to do anything.
I can type slow, like 1 char per sec, but that's rediculous. How can I 
fix this problem?

I have acquired a copy of xfig (version 1.4.3, patchlevel 6), and
I am having trouble making text entry and object movement work.
Is there a later version of xfig I should have, or is there some
pilot error here?
