[comp.windows.x] bitmap icons and executables: simple question?

 Is there any way to represent a program with a bitmap icon
using under AIX 2.2.1  with X11 release 3 doesn't seem to allow
any easy way to do it. I want to have programs on my X desktop 
represented by icons, but not executing, like in the Macintosh finder.
