I recently received the HP X11 support tape that contains the MIT "Athena" widgets and tried to give it a compile. Unfortunately, they seem to rely on some Xt function calls which, although listed in the manual, are not included in the libXt.a that comes with the system. (E.g. XtOwnSelection, XtDisownSelection, XtGetSelectionValue, XtErrorMsg, XtDatabase.) Has anyone had any luck with these? The documentation for the tape says that it is unsupported by hp, but that one can send inquiries to x_supt@hpcvlx . Our name server does not know of any "hpcvlx"... can someone give me its address? Thanks - Jon Courtney courtney@frith.egr.msu.edu

Our name server > does not know of any "hpcvlx"... can someone give me its address? I don't know enough about network addressing to truly answer your question, but try using "x_supt@cv.hp.com". I believe this address at least works within HP. Brian Cripe bcripe@cv.hp.com

Anyone who attempts to mail to "x_supt@cv.hp.com" is going to be REALLY disappointed when the Corvallis site-hub mailer daemon bounces their letter! This mail address disappeared half a year ago when we ended Beta site support for pre-release X11 (for HP-UX 6.5). Also, this mail address was intended for HP field engineers; it was not meant to be available to the world at large. When we distributed the X11 Support tape we told our field sales offices that they could distribute the tape contents at will and we forgot that the E-mail address was on it (it should never have been there in the first place). Actually, we've been a little surprised when we've been told that the entire support tape contents have ended up on various university systems. Now that's what I call "distributing at will"!!! > I recently received the HP X11 support tape that contains the MIT >"Athena" widgets and tried to give it a compile. These are all R3 toolkit calls, and were included in HP Xt documentation by mistake (Boy, what a mistake!). Anyway, they're not actually a part of HP's X Windows product until the HP-UX 7.0 release. Don't try to use them. > The documentation for the tape says that it is unsupported by hp, Thaaaat's right. The key word in the sentence is "UNSUPPORTED". Mark F.
