a long time ago (say, several months:), i thought i knew all the X servers for DOS. there were three or four (depending on who had announced), and several of them ran on top of our (ftp software's) tcp/ip stack. life was good. we were happy so many people were using our stack. now, it seems there are infinite (well, over 7 or 8 anyway) people doing this, several over our protocol stack. i suppose it is a testament to how complete our 4BSD compatible socket library is that we never heard from them during their development. saying i am very pleased is an understatment. saying i am very lost is also an understatment. we get asked, often, if we are going to do an X server ourselves. with all these other companies doing it, we have no interest. our customer base seems well satisfied. why am i bothering you all with this? welllll, we currently refer customers to the two or three of the vendors we know about. if you have an X server running on our protocol stack, we would be glad to add you to the sales-critters list of people supporting X. no obligation. send me the information, i will pass it along. if you are working on something you dont want announced yet, we can also keep our mouths shut, and love to be in on secrets:). stev knowles ftp software stev@ftp.com
