What is the latest status of XView? The last version I have saw was the first version posted on expo. I tried porting it to SYSV but ran into compiler limitations (too many include files) and when I heard that there would be updates, I stopped... thanks _/_ | ______ __. __ / o ____ | textronix!reed!littlei!zeus:martin / / / <_(_/|_/ (_<__<_/ / < | | martin@clubmed.hf.intel.com |

We currently expect all this to wrap-up by about December 15th. In this update we will providing bug-fixes, SunPro Makefiles (for shared libraries), more documentation, more example programs and a new Xlib-based graphics library named libolgx (OLGX) which implements the OPEN LOOK graphics components in both 2D and 3D-look appearances. The OLWM window manager will be the first client of this library. XView libraries which use OLGX will be available in Jan/Feb of the new year (not in time for R4) from expo. OLGX makes use of glyph fonts to render the UI components. Our testing has shown that the performance of OLGX in rendering buttons/sliders/scrollbars/etc is *MUCH* faster compared to rendering them with either pixmaps or Xlib drawing functions. I'll send out more information when the source is available. Tom Jacobs (tomj@sun.com -OR- ..!sun!tomj) Sun Microsystems, Inc. Mountain View, CA 94943
