[comp.windows.x] setting cursor in non-root windows

mdovi@hpcupt1.HP.COM (Mark Dovi) (11/16/89)

Is there a way to set the cursor to use when the mouse pointer is in
a window other than the root? I can set the cursor in the root with:
       xsetroot -cursor ...
but I would like to set the cursor for my other term windows.

If that application wishes to support this, then it should provide an interface.

For xterm there is a resoource that lets you set the cursor.

Xterm*pointerShape:	gumby

or from the command line:

% xterm -xrm "*pointerShape:gumby"

To set the cursor for other applications you will have to consult the
application's documentation.
