Ok, I've finally decided to make the switch from Sunview to X. I've been less than please with the window managers previously available with X... they've always been nice, except for one really really wee, pugnacious, *annoying* hurdle that I couldn't put up with. Now I've tried gwm... Outstanding! Zillions of times faster than Sunview (on my Sun 3/50 w 8 Meg o' RAM), and customizable to the MAX! BUT! ARGH! Whar's my blasted magnifying glass?!? Who's idea of a default font is this, anyways? The fonts in the menus and icons are fine, but before I use this at length (in other words, before I learn WOOL), I want my window fonts to be the same size/style as those in the icons and menu bars. HELP! > -Mike "possible X convert" Schwager > Well, thanks to a user here, I was able to get it. I created this line in my .Xdefaults file: *Font: 8x13 to get a (somewhat) pleasing font... at least it's big enough. Guess it wasn't gwm's fault at all. So now I'm a happy camper. One other question out of curiosity- are there other fixed width fonts available somewhere (anonymous ftp or whatever) that work with X? For instance, we have 6x10, 6x12, 8x13, and 9x15 (maybe a couple others), but they look kinda squat and wide to me. I'd like something a little different. Thanks in advance for all the help. -Mike Schwager INTERNET:schwager@cs.uiuc.edu | "They say into every life a UUCP:{uunet|convex|pur-ee}!uiucdcs!schwager | little rain must fall, BITNET:schwager%cs.uiuc.edu@uiucvmd | But your dreamcloud has burst University of Illinois, Dept. of Comp.
