[comp.windows.x] overiding default resource definitions

clyne@redcloud.ucar.edu (John Clyne) (11/23/89)

How does one go about overriding the default definitions of a resource at
the application level with Xt? For example, lets say I want to interpret
a geometry string in terms of characters instead of pixels as is done in
xterm. If you examine the geometry resource after the creation of the
top level widget and try to manipulate geometry then its too late. The
top level shell has already gone about interpreting the geometry string
in the normal fashion. Is there a simple solution to this?

thanks - jc
