Mis-use of net.XXX path through the flower bed ------------------ = --------------------------- "real" net users head gardener of the park if I may make the analogy. Some gardeners accept that their neat view of the park isn't what the public sees and accomodate to it, paving where thoughtless feet have trod. Other gardeners rant and rave and call the police. Whatever the semantics of net.general is, it isn't enough to guide the masses. Perhaps some net.gardener should pave net.general for what it has become, and invent another name for the one "real" people can subscribe to. There is an opportunity here to study an interface that reaches deep into the semantics of the language as used by our otherwise rather inaccessible community. I know that most folks just want the news; but perhaps someone out there would like to light a candle... /s/ Bill McKeeman.Wang-Inst at CSNet-Relay ...decvax!wivax!mckeeman Wang Institute of Graduate Studies, Tyngsboro, MA 01879
