[comp.windows.x] Looking for UIMS

news@morpho.UUCP (John Timlick) (12/01/89)

[So this is the Net...]

Okay, so who's working on a toolkit-based UIMS/forms processor?

Our company is starting redevelopment of our main product and we are
examining options for the alpha data management portion of our image
processing system. We would prefer not to use an xterm-bound forms
generator package, if something for an X toolkit (particularily Motif)
is going to be available and stable within the next 9 months.

OSF mentioned a UIMS as a future product for Motif. Schedule? Scope?

Will a company or maverick programmer please send a rumor my way?

I think OSF has specifically stated that it will not be releasing a
UIMS for Motif. Several companies have, however, announced such
products (mostly for Motif, one or two for Open Look). A few examples
are Exert Object, Nixdorf, Visual Edge, and TeleSoft. Which is best?
That really depends on your requirements.
