[comp.windows.x] using gcc and Purdue+ speedups on Vaxstation II

envbvs@epb2.lbl.gov (Brian V. Smith) (12/06/89)

I have successfully compiled the Purdue+ speedups with gcc for
a Vaxstation II monochrome, but to get it to work at all, I
had to use plain cc to compile ddx/dec/qvss/qvss_io.c.

I even tried gcc on that file without optimization but to no avail.
xinit complains of error 61 (ECONNREFUSED) Connection refused.

When it is compiled with cc everything works fine. I assume that
it would help speed up the server more if I could compile this low-level
program with gcc.

Are there any special options to gcc that I should be using?

Oh yes:

MIT X11R3, Purdue+ speedups, patches 1-8 Vaxstation II monochrome,
Ultrix 3.0
