Hi there Net-OIDS: I have been trying hard to get myself to move over to X. The biggest obstacle in my way (ok, ok so it's trivial) is the lack of a *good* X calendar tool. Due to my almost nonexistent memory, I have gotten used to the Sunview "calentool." Is there _anything_ out there that will do a *good* (I saw xcalen or whatever and it was terrible) job of dealing with appointments, calendars etc. Something that would not mind printing calendars out in Postscript would be very nice. Please help! Farooq Butt fmbutt@lectroid.sw.stratus.com

I've been hoping to get going on an XView port of calentool, but I've been to busy with real work. My best hope now, is to start on it after the new year. [It would help if I had a decent version of XView that will run on top of Sun OS 3.5, rather than the Alpha source release which seems to be buggy.] -Bill Randle Tektronix, Inc. billr@saab.CNA.TEK.COM [Maintainer of calentool]

It's being shipped to select beta sites even as I type this message. The current version uses Motif as its GUI, and provides various features including graphic depiction of multiuser availabilities (to schedule meetings without conflicts), automatic propogation of to-do items to the next day (if they don't get done), recurring events, popup notes, custom permissions, etc., etc., etc. Contact Chris Knudsen at CrossWind for more information (chris@xwind.com, (408)335-4988). It has year, month, and day views, alarm clocks, etc. Ken Lee DEC Western Software Laboratory, Palo Alto, Calif. Internet: klee@decwrl.dec.com uucp: uunet!decwrl!klee
