We have been seeing very slow performance of PolySegment on several
servers (Sun3 and Mac). A few thousand segments can take serveral
minutes to complete. The problem is data dependent. The same number of
segments can complete in a few seconds with different data. The problem
data has a lot of consecutive vertical segements.
The problem showed up using Xgraph.
The servers that show the problem are fairly close to the MIT
distribution. On the same hardware Xnews plots the segments very
quickly no matter what the data.
Any ideas?
I can send the xgraph data that shows the problem to anyone who wants
to try it.
