Before the net fills with R3 traffic, I'd like to take the opportunity to thank the staff at MIT that made R3 possible: Jim Fulton Keith Packard Ralph Swick (Project Athena) Donna Converse (joined us recently, just in time) Michelle Leger They worked 'round the clock for a long time to make this release build and run cleanly on the half dozen or more different systems we use here, and they hardly ever complained about the leg irons. I think they've done an outstanding job, considering all the obstacles in their way (I sure wish companies would start using the X release to QA their compilers and utilities). If they're a little slow in responding over the next week or so, either they're off taking a well-deserved rest, or else the switchover to the new MIT phone system has happily left us cut off from the universe for a while.

Your message: Before the net fills with R3 traffic, I'd like to take the opportunity to thank the staff at MIT that made R3 possible: ... -------- Well, on a Sun4 it has a small botch and a core dump (which I'm sure they'll hear about a hundred times), but it compiles and runs in less than 2 hours! As a software vendor we know how difficult it is to distribute software that works on many machines/operating systems. (Very, believe it. :-) Congratulations to the crew of project Athena and everyone else who made R3 a reality! -- John Irwin, Franz Inc. (jdi%franz.uucp@ucbarpa.berkeley.edu)

I would like to thank B Chen for the suggestion on sources that have documentation for X10 to X11 conversion. Chen I could not get mail over to you, so I thank you here. Thanx again -Ram -- ********************************************************* The best things in Life are free; It is the second best things that are the most expensive. *********************************************************
