[comp.windows.x] controlling xterm window with ESC sequences?

dizio@ctdi.UUCP (Dave Dizio) (12/22/89)

I running X11 on a Sequent computer system and I have two questions.

First my "Xterm Control Sequences" manual lists the following ESC sequences
to resize and raise a window respectively.

			ESC[8;r;ct

			ESC[5t

The problem is they don't have any effect when echoed to the xterm. I
know I am issuing them correctly because these are the same ESC's used
on the SUN under sunview within the shelltool.

Second question. I received from my computer vendor some code which displays
slidefiles(as defined by AutoCad). The code is written directly from Xlib
functions and is not using a toolkit. I have been modifying the code
to zoom and pan with some success, however not really knowing alot about X,
there is one thing I haven't been able to figure out how to do.
I would like to know how to prevent the window from being displayed as
a sketch when it first starts up, waiting until I click the mouse before
positioning itself where I want it to be. Which X call can I use
to override this feature?

Thanks
