[comp.windows.x] X Tutorial based on AWM

brooks@maddog.llnl.gov (Eugene Brooks) (12/30/89)

For those that might like one, an X tutorial based on a generic environment
created for AWM is available via anonymous ftp from the Internet Host
maddog.llnl.gov. This document is based on Curry's work for TWM (with his
permission), but is formatted in LaTeX with in-line PostScript includes for
the 19 screen dumps.

A TOC and a very useful INDEX is included in the document. The document is
in the directory pub/generic, split up into a handful of compressed pieces of
a tar image. A README indicates how to recreate the tar image and a CHECKSUMS
file provides BSD sum outputs for you to check that ftp didn't nail you.
Don't forget binary mode, lest you be hosed on the compressed files.

Sorry, the document is much to large to transmit by UUCP or Email.
If you don't have ftp access, find a kind soul fetch it and copy it to
a tape for you. I do not have time to handle requests for copies on a tape.

The tutorial should be quite useful for the novice who wants to get started
using X and needs a tutorial for a generic environment under AWM.
