In the interests of saving disk space, the utilities dir of R3 had/has an "lndir.sh" script for building a symbolic-link directory tree which "shadows" the real source directory. I haven't looked in R4 just yet, but presumably there's something similar. Coincidentally (honest!), I just today posted to comp.lang.perl a Perl-3.0 script called "mkshadowdir.pl", which does pretty much the same thing as lndir.sh. Of course, I like to think it's faster, better, and does better error checking, but you're welcome to check it out for yourself (and make suggestions for improvements). You should be able to find it under: >Subject: Re: script efficiency improvement >Message-ID: <6451@ogicse.ogc.edu> >Date: 3 Jan 90 23:49:05 GMT again, in comp.lang.perl. -- Marion Hakanson Domain: hakanson@cse.ogi.edu UUCP : {hp-pcd,tektronix}!ogicse!hakanson
