Are there plans for an X-info archive server? It seems to me that we could eliminate many of the repeated questions by providing one source with previously posted information. This also has the benefit of providing information (via tape, what-have-you) to sites without email or usenet access. For example, send the initial message to the archive server with "help" and you get back a list of topics with explanations for each one. Then can ask for a list of articles within that topic area, and the topic you want. If one is worried about access times, the archived data could be made available on a periodic basis for distribution. There already exists archive software, so it seems the major stumbling block is to find someone to maintain it, distribute it and so forth. If one were to get very creative, you could provide a search language to help find what you are looking for faster. And a method for appending information such as another entry to a bibliography or another company providing ports. If anyone has input on this idea, I would be very interested in discussing it.
