[comp.windows.x] using SHAPE

OK, so my server responds to xdpyinfo with 

	number of extensions:    4
	    SHAPE
	    MIT-SHM
	    Multi-Buffering
	    MIT-SUNDRY-NONSTANDARD

but oclock and xeyes still obscure rectangular regions of the screen.
Should they only obscure elliptical regions?  Would this depend upon
running an ICCCM-compliant window manager (I'm still running awm)?

It depends on running a window manager that understands SHAPE.
Try twm (or gwm, I think).
