I have a general query about programming in X.... If I have an application, and I want to draw a button with an icon in it, who supplies the Icon? Can the application supply the form, or is the windowing system supposed to find it? Does the GUI (eg MOTIF) draw the button for me? How do I specify what happens when the button gets hit? If I write my own 'widgets' do they have to be in C? Do they get compiled into the server library? How do I distribute awidget? Can I write a widget whose behavior is determined at runtime and not compile time? In other words, can I improve on the text editor widget, or do I have to recompile it?
