[comp.windows.x] Partial contents of MIT's rgb.txt

roberth@microsoft.UUCP (01/08/90)

John,

I was recently forwarded a Comp.Windows.X message that included a
portion of a listing of RGB -> TextColors. Unfortunately, the listing
appeared to be incomplete (it ended with medium forest green, and then a
partial RGB)

I am working on some test apps for PM, in which one of the things we
want to do, is to draw something in a randomly chosen RGB color, then
put up a message box saying something like "The line should be <color>,
is it? [Yes] [No]" for visual feedback from/to the user of the system
test app. Originally, I was trying to find some sort of algorithm that
would generate a descriptive string from an RGB (ie: Green, Light Green,
Green-Blue, Greenish-Blue, Light Greenish-Blue...) but so far haven't had
much luck. Barring that, a 'brute force' data array would probably be the
next best thing, and your listing looked pretty good. Could you possibly
send me a full listing of your RGB.TXT?

Thanks,

- Robert
