[net.news] on binaries in net.sources

keithe@teklabs.UUCP (08/13/84)

OK, you don't want binaries in net.sources 'cause YOU
can't use them on your Froboz 6502 PC? Well, FINE!

In that case...

how about creating net.binaries (net.sources.binary?) for
us low-lifes who DO have a use for such things and we'll
get out of everybody's way...

Keith,
We didn't object to posting binaries on the net for
common non-unix machines ... we just objected to net.sources
(or any subtree). We did however PREFER source.

There is a place for things of interest to certain
PC owners .. net.micro.Froboz or what ever ... if the group
for your machine is missing ... lobby for it's creation.

I would like to see more such sharing ... but keep it
in it's place. Many of us are to tight on disk space and tape archive to
store in net.sources and archive what should be in net.micro.*
and thus expireable and archivable by machine type.
