After comparing Sun's alpha XView distribution against what was included in X.V11R4, I discovered that XView's API documentation was not included. However, the file, contrib/toolkits/XView/doc/README, states that "...a comprehensive programmer's reference manual for XView is now available from O'Reilly & Associates, Inc. as Volume Seven of their series of X Window System documentation. Contact O'Reilly & Associates, Inc. directly to order the "XView Programming Manual" O'Reilly & Associates, Inc. 632 Petaluma Avenue Sebastopol, CA 95472 (800)338-6887 EMAIL: uunet!ora!xview Note: For those who have been using the 1.0 version of the XView library, there was a document that summarized the XView API (Application Programmer's Interface). This work has been incorporated into the "XView Programming Manual" by O'Reilly & Associates, Inc. The previously distributed version of the API summary is now out of date." However, because I'm located in California, the specified telephone number is inapplicable. Some investigation uncovered that from *within* California, their telephone number is (800) 533-6887. For those interested, O'Reilly & Associates, Inc. indicated that Volume 7 costs $30, is available now, and has the following ISBN number: 0-937175-38-2. They also stated that although Volumes 4 and 5 ("X Toolkit Programming Manual" and "X Toolkit Reference Manual" respectively) will be available imminently, Volume 6 is still being written and currently has no title (!).
