[comp.windows.x] R4 xload gives bitrot on RT megapel server

dyer@spdcc.COM (Steve Dyer) (01/11/90)

Before I start rooting around, has anyone else seen bitrot (literally)
start creeping in on their Megapel display a few minutes after starting
the R4 xload? I get black sprinkles all over the screen within a minute
or so. "xrefresh" cleans it up.

I haven't seen what happens after running xload for a while. I've
generally killed the app once I saw what it was doing to my screen.

I'm running R4 on an RT with megapel, and I have not seen the screen
problem you described. Well, actually I have but it was totally
unrelated to X. I added another Wren to hold R4, and while I was at it
I put an apa16 card in (right under the megapel card). Anyway, the
megapel can have this kind of problem if the card gets too hot (as it
will if the apa16 card is under it :).

Anyway, the answer to your original question is no.
