[comp.windows.x] Coming up to Speed with Motif and X

lazer@mnetor.UUCP (Lazer Danzinger) (01/15/90)

Assuming that a given s/w engineer is:
	1. a quick learner,
	2. experienced in:
	    2.1 'C'
	    2.2 unix,
2.3 the use of much simpler, non-X type programmatic
		graphical interfaces,
	3. motivated...

How much time would you guestimate might be required for him/her
to come up to speed sufficently to be able to program competently
    using:
	1. widgets (Motif),
	2. Xlib (to write widgets),
	3. uil

Aside from -- let's say -- a week of formal training,
what else would you suggest [besides reading Doug Young's new book]
(and how much would you allocate) before you would expect the above
individual to be able to design and develop a commercial s/w product?
(Please itemize for: widgets, xlib (widget writing), and uil.)

e-mail is preferred -- I'll summarize if there is general interest.

Please callback, as your Xperience and open-ion is important.
    ThanX in advance.

P.S. Recommendations for good Motif/X courses would also be
	 Xtremely appreciated.
