Hi! I'm looking for MacPaint and MacWrite style software for X or NeWS (preferably in the public domain). Anyone know any location I can obtain these from? Also if anyone out there has a version of troff that runs under X or NeWS and the sources for it are available.... Thanks! (a friend is posting this for me, so) please reply to: John Roberts robertsj@admin.ogi.edu or Cogent Research, Inc. 1100 NW Compton Drive Beaverton, Oregon 97006 (503)690-1450

I don't know of a word processing appliction for X (if someone does please post the source as I am looking for the same thing) The other applications are available at: expo.lcs.mit.edu 18.30.0.212 Or just about any other comp.sources.x archive site. Hope this helps. Robert Thompson Center for Computer Assisted Engineering Colorado State University

DECwrite is a compound document system that runs under X (on DEC equipment, at least right now). It does text, graphics, links to other applications, etc. etc. etc. etc...... DECpaint comes with DECwindows, and is a paint program. FrameMaker is also available. I haven't used it, so have no comment... idraw (done at Stanford) is quite a nice drawing program. It is on the X distribution in the contributed software. There is other stuff floating around, but I haven't personally seen it run.... - Jim

See the announcement from Tom Neuendorffer, 5 January, on this bboard. Andrew supports word processing with multi-media embedded objects: rasters, tables/spread sheets, drawings, style editor, application builder, embedded programming language, ... . Fred Hansen

I can't find this application on our dist. tapes, is there an ftp site that has this archived ? Thanks, Robert Thompson Center for Computer Assisted Engineering Colorado State University

I haven't used Andrew in a long time, but I have recently used Frame Maker from Frame Technologies and was very impressed. -- _________ Dave Brennan, User Interfaces, Data General Corp. / brennan@dg-rtp.dg.com Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, 27709 / ...mcnc!rti!dg-rtp!brennan Hm: (919) 460-5725 Wk: (919) 248-6330 _________/ dave_brennan@rpitsmts.bitnet
