Given a Screen * is there a way to find out the cooresponding screen number?

Yup, the new XScreenNumberOfScreen (Screen *screen) call added to the R4
Xlib spec.

XScreenNumberOfScreen(screen) is documented in "Xlib Changes From Release 3
to Release 4", found in the file mit/doc/Xlib/R4Xlib.tbl.ms.
