[comp.windows.x] What happened XtAsciiSinkCreate?

casey@gauss.llnl.gov (Casey Leedom) (02/10/90)

  I hope I'm not duplicating a question that's already gone by ...
<X11/Xaw/AsciiSink.h> defines XtAsciiSinkCreate to be XawAsciiSinkCreate
when XAW_BC is defined. It even defines XawAsciiSinkCreate as an
external function returning type XawTextSink. However, I haven't been
able to find any other mention of XawAsciiSinkCreate anywhere in the
source or documentation and it certainly isn't in the libraries. Is
there something else I should be using? (By the way, I'm trying to
compile xgdb.)

Hmmm,.. First off, this has all been (rather nicely, I feel) generalized
into separate resources. I.E. You create a text widget and then
its create its source as another widget and glue them together with
SetValues(). I haven't found a need, as yet, to create a Sink directly.

Second, xgdb has undergone massive changes and will now work with
multiple debuggers (sdb/gdb/soon dbx) and multiple UI's (Motif, Xw or
Athena). What I released oh-so-long ago (9 months? :-) on DECWRL is
now just a wee bit outdated. I'm currently trying to the the GNU
paperwork done so that I can send the whole kit-and-kaboodle off
to the FSF. Further details as the situation develops.

P.S. Sorry for the big delay between releases, guys, but I had
to break a lot of new ground.. It was a bit slow going. My thanks
for everyone's patience.
