[comp.windows.x] Xsun crash

spock@bnrmtl.UUCP (Richard Young) (02/14/90)

Hi,

I have been having trouble with a server crash. My environment is:

	- Sun 3/60
	- cc
	- twm
	- xinit
	- standard background and cursor

Normally this crash is so uncommon that I was willing to live with it, but
today I can't seem to keep the server running for more than a few minutes
at a time. I can now reproduce the crash on demand.

To cause the crash I rapidly open and close several (large, overlapping)
Xterm windows. I continue this for up to 1 minute, and then:

	- my cursor changes to the twm "watch" and stays that way,
	- all output (xclock second hand, etc.) stops, and
	- all further input is ignored

A few seconds later my screen fills with "lost connection" messages from some
upset clients, and the whole thing comes grinding to a halt.

Here is the dbx "where" output, run against the Xsun core file:

I hope somebody can help me with this, as I am unlikely to be able to solve
it on my own. If there is any further information that would help track this
down, please let me know.
