R4 twm spins in a loop doing XQueryPointer when using its menus or when moving a window to find out the current cursor position. R3 twm does this only on moving a window. This was discovered when our transmit/receive leds on the Labtam Xterminal flash violently when one of these actions is happening. This is considered unfriendly as the server spends most of it time serving the request rather than other things. I assured by people here that there are friendlier ways using X of finding out when the pointer has moved. John Carey Labtam Information Systems Pty. Ltd.
