According to section 2.4.6 of the Xlib Programming Manual (O'Reilly's Volume 1), the default colormap of the root window can be changed. Is that true? I've tried a few different approaches but have not succeeded yet. (My reason for doing so, in case you care, is that I need grayscale for images along with a nice mix of colors for annotation and for other applications, all without the flashing normally expected from large dynamic colormaps. I want to be able to do this on both X/NeWS and Xsun.) / \ Tom Olin -- PAR ------------------------------- \ / PAR Technology Corporation (315) 738-0600, Ext. 638 220 Seneca Turnpike New Hartford, NY 13413 ...!uunet!adiron!tro
