[comp.windows.x] extension names

tek@penzance.cs.ucla.edu (02/22/90)

My sample server gives these extension names:

	SHAPE
	MIT-SHM
	Multi-Buffering
	MIT-SUNDRY-NONSTANDARD

Are there any conventions about the form of these names?
Should they be all upper case (certainly Multi-Buffering is not)?
Should components always be separated by dashes? (rather than underscores)

There is a semi-convention of uppercase and hyphens, but no laws.
