There have been discussions of splitting xpert (comp.windows.x) in the past, most of which have vetoed for one reason or another. If there should be a split at some time in the future, I'd like to suggest that it spin off the discussion of contributed software from the X core discussion, i.e split xpert into xpert and xcontrib (comp.windows.x.contrib). xcontrib would take bug reports, release announcements, usage questions, etc. I'll take a straw poll by email (mail stuff to emv@math.lsa.umich.edu) and summarize here. A quick eyeballing of comp.windows.x right now shows roughly 5 or 6 of the last 20 postings might have been suitable for comp.windows.x.contrib. --Ed

This is prompted by going through about 800 messages on getting back into town and finding about 8 that were of interest. Most of those 8 were announcements of either new contributed software or fixes to either core X or old contributed software. ---------------- Paul Raveling Raveling@isi.edu
