Hi, I must be missing something about 'rn'. I have only played with it a bit - it was excellently packaged and is very nicely tuned visually - but it so far seems still like a souped up vnews which seems like a visual readnews. The notesfile interface, on the other hand, seems much more optimal (at least I prefer it) where articles are grouped by topic or discussion and you are presented a menu within each newsgroup/notesfiles of the discussions/subjects of each article. Now, I would like to ditch notesfiles because its integration with the news system is not perfect, but so far my use of an article-by-article interface such as that of readnews, vnews and rn makes me prefer notes. Any insights ? One can only devote so much(little) energy to playing with the news system. Thanks. Cheers, Dan Ts'o Dept. Yeah, I too was disappointed to discover that all-singing all-dancing rn has the same old one-at-a-time style. I want to see an index of subjects/authors/etc in one window and selected articles in the other, but can't bear the apparently baroque notes/news interface that looses garbage on the world every month or so. Emacs' rnews.ml was too slow when I tried it. How hard would it be to make rn do this, rn hackers? I suppose I could hack up dired to do it...
